The “Gendarmenmarkt” neighborhood is located in the Mitte district and is bordered by Leipziger Strasse, Spittelmarkt, Friedrichstrasse, Französische Strasse and the Spree Canal. The eponymous Gendarmenmarkt is home to the French Cathedral, the German Cathedral and the Konzerthaus Berlin. The neighborhood is connected to the subway network via the Hausvogteiplatz and Stadtmitte subway stations. The Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry of Justice are also located in the neighborhood. This neighborhood is being examined with regard to the need for traffic calming and its suitability as a neighborhood block.
