How safe do you feel when you’re out on the road, and where do you notice hazardous spots? What measures can you see being implemented in your neighborhood, and which ones not? Your suggestions have been incorporated into the neighborhood safety plans.
Participation at a glance
From the beginning of March to the beginning of April, residents and other interested parties submitted information on 28 Kiezes in the Mitte district, which were selected as generally suitable for a Kiezblock as part of an initial online participation. These included perceived danger spots and barriers. You can read in the Questions & Answers how it is decided whether a Kiez is suitable for a Kiezblock.
Based on the participation results, 25 Kieze were selected. These are the Kieze with the greatest potential for improving the quality of life through traffic calming. Neighborhood walks took place there from the end of April to mid-June. On site, the planning team presented drafts for Kiezblocks and discussed the proposed measures with interested residents.
From mid-June to mid-July, the second online public engagement session took place, during which interested parties provided feedback on the Kiezblock designs. The public engagement process for Kiezblock planning is now complete. You can find the results here.
Four Kieze were selected, in collaboration with the Senate Department for Mobility, Transportation, Climate Protection, and the Environment, to implement “Kiezblocks” in the summer of 2026:

Once the Kiezblocks have been implemented, the success of the measures will be evaluated. In addition to traffic counts and observations, your experiences will also be taken into account. Do the measures that have been implemented contribute to safer, quieter streets?

The results of the participation process are incorporated into the selection of Kiezblocks for implementation, the selection of suitable measures and the specification of the plans.
